Inclusivity is at the very core
of True North programming.
To quote one of our partners, “Through my eyes, going the extra mile is equity in action. True North embodies this in a way others need to strive towards.”
By providing activities year-round and free of charge, True North enables all youth to participate regardless of socioeconomic level or background. Our wraparound approach and dedication to forging individual relationships with participants and their families enables us to meet them where they are at, tailoring our programming and support to reflect their unique strengths, needs, struggles, and values.
Inclusion is the act or state of including or of being included within a group or structure. Here at True North, we believe that every student deserves an equal opportunity to succeed and discover their potential. We believe in saying 'yes' to include all students in our program! Yoda embodies these principles by being kind and excited to play with anyone and everyone.
Yoda joined the True North family in August of 2020. He loves meeting students from all over our region and welcoming them into the True North family. Yoda is named after the great jedi master, a great teacher and mentor for all young jedis. Yoda looks forward to sharing his wisdom and love with all those he encounters! Check out Yoda's many adventures on our social media and on his page, @coloradoyoda!

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
Adopted by the Board of Directors on June 3rd, 2021
In order to fulfill our vision of every teen participant graduating high school with a plan and a path to follow into adulthood, we are dedicated to each individual student, regardless of their background.
True North Youth Program is committed to cultivating an environment of inclusivity and celebration of individuality. We encourage our students, staff, Board of Directors and volunteers to embrace the characteristics that make them unique. These characteristics are the fabric of our organization.
All True North employees, board members and volunteers have the responsibility to treat everyone with respect, dignity and humanity. Any other treatment is unacceptable in our organization.
To us, Diversity means you are all welcome. All backgrounds, all cultures, all races, all genders, all nationalities, all languages, all political affiliations, all ability levels, all are welcome.
Equity means providing our same organization services to every single student, regardless of abilities, location or school district within our service territory. We believe that all students should have equitable access to higher education, information, opportunities, resources, and support.
Inclusion means coming together and saying yes! We bring teens and adult navigators together, from all along our watershed to navigate the path into, through and beyond high school
We strive to show up every day open-minded, open-hearted and with authenticity. We hope you will walk with us in this journey of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and we are always open to feedback on our efforts.
